Whiplash, PTSD, and Muscle Degeneration

If you have been in a rear-end collision, you have witnessed first hand the discomfort of the injuries caused by such an event.  If you sustained severe injuries, then there is a chance that you have developed chronic whiplash.

Recent research has found that chronic whiplash patients have been found with fatty infiltrates in their muscles, which is a sign of muscle degeneration.  The researchers further investigated the muscle degeneration by linking the chronic whiplash with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

In their evaluations, they concluded that patients who had high initial pain levels and signs of PTSD were more likely to develop chronic pain syndromes.  They further concluded that patients with PTSD also developed more muscle fatty infiltrates.

If you have been in a traumatic car accident and feel that you may be suffering both physically and mentally, then I highly recommend that you seek professional counsel.  A qualified attorney can make sure that you are given the care you deserve through this unfortunate circumstance.
